BS Criminal Justice | Online

Graduates of our program work in the fields of courts, corrections, and law enforcement on the  local, state, and federal levels.  Our graduates work with adults and with juveniles. Some graduates choose to go to graduate school or law school.
Course work focuses on factual material, internet based research, and critical thinking skills.  In some courses, application of knowledge will include hands-on activities or projects.  Graduates continue to be successful in finding employment from the local to federal levels, in a wide array of criminal justice related positions.

Individuals with P.O.S.T. certification may apply to receive college credit for specific criminal justice courses.

Our program offers a wide array of electives including administration courses, forensics, private and industrial security and correctional management.  Students report that the online course system used by LSUA (Moodle) is easy to navigate.  They also feel that the rigor of the courses well prepares them for employment.

All of the faculty in the Criminal Justice program have worked (or are working) in the field.  Two have been police officers, one was a warden with the Federal Bureau of Prisons.  The Program Coordinator (Beth Whittington)  headed child abuse and sex crimes (currently known as SVU) for the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Department.
